Because the metal orchard fence is heavy, it must be attached to steel T-posts. Typically these posts are spaced 8-10 ft. apart. Since Standard Deer Control Fence weighs significantly less per foot, it can be attached to lengths of rebar, which are much less expensive and make excellent posts. Posts for Deer Control Fence can easily be spaced 10-15 feet apart. This means less posts will be used to install the polypropylene fence.

The labor cost to install Deer Control Fence is significantly less than the labor cost to install the metal orchard fence. 2 people using a fence stretcher are required to install the metal fence. This is often a slow and tedious process. Deer Control Fence weighs much less (50 lbs. vs 120 lbs.), unrolls easily, does not require a fence stretcher (it only needs to be taut between posts), cuts easily with a sharp pair of scissors, and attaches quickly to posts with self-locking polypropylene ties.

Metal orchard fence is rigid and difficult to install if there is a change in the grade of the land. Deer Control Fence is flexible and can easily follow the contour of the land.

Metal orchard fence is only 6 feet high. Deer Control Fence is 7.5 feet in height. This additional height provides extra protection against deer jumping over the fence.

Metal fences can cut you and will eventually rust. Deer Control Fence will not rust.

The price listed for Deer Control Fence does not take into account any volume discounts. For example, with a volume discount of 10%, the cost for Deer Control Fence would be $202.50.

The above chart indicates the materials cost to install 330 ft. of Deer Control Fence using 28 pieces of 1/2" rebar would be $272.60. The materials cost to install 330 ft. of metal orchard fence using 37 pieces of 8 ft. steel T-posts would be $325.57. Additionally, the labor cost to install Deer Control Fence is much lower when compared to the cost to install the metal orchard fence.

When you look at both the materials cost and labor cost for installation of Deer Control Fence vs. metal orchard fence, you will find the total cost to be much lower for Deer Control Fence.
